Urgent Repairs at Shieldfield House - Update

I was told on Friday (5th Jan) that reports came in over the Christmas Holidays of falling debris at Shieldfield House. Initial reports suggest issues with an old repair to window sealants which was carried out a number of years ago. I visited the block as scaffolding and fencing was being erected this morning. As it happens, I was meeting with the leader and the deputy leader of the council this morning we discussed the importance of prompt action to protect the safety and comfort of residents in the block. With YHN coming back into the Council soon many aspects of Council Housing will be reviewed.

It's been reported to Councillors that a structural survey has been arranged and that a drone has been used to assess the outside of the building too.

I have been told that there is no reason to believe that the structural integrity of the building is compromised, and I and the residents will be kept updated.

Iā€™d be happy to hear from Residents from Shieldfield House or anywhere else in the ward.
